The Microcar MC1 was a two-seat hatchback microcar produced by the French manufacturer Microcar. It was a key model that followed the popular Virgo series and was produced from the early to mid-2000s.
Key features
Production era: The MC1 was manufactured from around 2003 to 2007, and its long-wheelbase chassis was later used as the basis for the ZENN electric vehicle in Canada between 2006 and 2010.
Engine options: The MC1 could be equipped with either a diesel or petrol engine.
Diesel: A Lombardini 502 Progress diesel engine was a common option. Some models used a 0.5L 2-cylinder diesel engine with around 5 hp.
Petrol: A 505 ccm twin-cylinder petrol engine was also available.
Transmission: Both engine options were paired with a variable automatic transmission, typical for microcars.
Design: The MC1 was a front-wheel-drive hatchback with a two-seat configuration.
Successor: The MC1, along with its four-seat variant, the MC2, was eventually replaced by the M.Go series of microcars following the acquisition of Microcar by Ligier in 2008.
