The Microcar MC2 was a four-seat hatchback microcar produced by the French manufacturer Microcar. It was a long-wheelbase version of the MC1 and was produced in the mid-2000s, serving as a successor to the Virgo series.
Key features
Production run: The MC2 was manufactured between approximately 2005 and 2008.
Capacity: Unlike the two-seat MC1, the MC2 had a longer wheelbase and was designed to accommodate four passengers.
Engine and transmission: It was powered by a small 505 ccm Lombardini diesel engine, which produced around 4 kW (5 hp). The engine was paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).
Performance: Like most microcars, its top speed was limited to 45 km/h (about 28 mph) to comply with European regulations for license-exempt vehicles.
Design: The MC2 was a front-engine, front-wheel-drive vehicle with a three-door hatchback body style.
Successor: The MC series, including the MC1 and MC2, was eventually replaced by the M.Go series of microcars, particularly after Microcar's acquisition by Ligier in 2008.
