The official poster for the 1930 FIFA World Cup in Uruguay was designed by Guillermo Laborde, a prominent Uruguayan artist and sculptor. His Art Deco-style illustration features a stylized goalkeeper wearing a blue jersey, stretching high to catch a ball.

Guillermo Laborde

Guillermo Laborde (24 October 1886 – 13 May 1940) was an Uruguayan painter, sculptor and designer.

In addition to painting, he also created sculptures and graphic designs, as well as designs for costumes, theater and carnival sets. His best known design was the official poster for the first FIFA World Cup in 1930; which was awarded first prize in a competition held by the Centennial Commission.
