Bormla became a Parish in 1586 and the Church is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. This Parish has been collegiate since 1822. The titular painting was crowned by Cardinal Ferrata in 1905 and fifty years later, Cardinal Tedeschini decorated it with a golden star.
