Emmanuel Attard Bezzina (1921-1988) was a Maltese politician from the Labor Party (PL) and Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Biography

Attard Bezzina began his political career when he was first elected as a member of the House of Representatives in the 1947 election as a Labor Party candidate, in which he represented the 3rd district. . In the elections of 1950, 1951, 1953, 1955, 1962 and 1966 he was re-elected as a member of parliament, where he subsequently represented the 4th district constituency in parliament.

In June 1971 he was appointed Speaker of the House of Representatives as successor to Alfred Bonnici , becoming the first parliamentary speaker since Malta's independence in 1964 to be appointed by the Labor Party. In September 1976, the role of Speaker passed to Nestu Laiviera.

After leaving parliament he worked as an ambassador between 1976 and 1985.
