LEGO Batman

LEGO Batman

The LEGO Batman theme is an ongoing product line first introduced in 2006, part of the larger LEGO DC Super Heroes franchise. It features numerous sets, vehicles (especially different Batmobiles), characters, and scenes inspired by the comics, films, and animated series, and has also spawned popular video games and films.

History of the Theme

The LEGO Batman theme has gone through several iterations:

Original Theme (2006-2008): The initial run featured 15 sets inspired by various Batman media, including the 1989 film.

Relaunch as DC Super Heroes (2012 onwards): After a brief hiatus, Batman sets returned as a sub-theme of the broader LEGO DC Super Heroes line, introducing other DC characters like Superman and Wonder Woman.

The LEGO Batman Movie (2017-2018): A major wave of 42 sets and promotional polybags was released to tie in with The LEGO Batman Movie, the successful spin-off of The LEGO Movie.

Movie Tie-ins and Collector Sets: LEGO continues to release sets based on specific Batman films, such as The Batman (2022) and the classic 1989 and The Dark Knight films, alongside general DC-themed sets.
