LEGO Ghostbusters

LEGO Ghostbusters

The LEGO Ghostbusters theme, available from 2014 to 2020, includes detailed construction sets and minifigures based on the classic 1984 film, its 2016 reboot, and the Afterlife sequel. The line is known for its iconic Ecto-1 vehicle models and the Firehouse Headquarters set.

Core Sets and Minifigures

The primary focus of the theme has been the iconic Ecto-1 vehicle and the Ghostbusters' base of operations.

Ghostbusters Ecto-1 (21108): Released in June 2014 as the first set in the theme, it was a fan-designed model from LEGO Ideas to celebrate the original film's 30th anniversary.

Minifigures: Included all four original Ghostbusters: Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz, Egon Spengler, and Winston Zeddemore.

Firehouse Headquarters (75827): This massive, detailed set from 2015 featured opening walls, a containment unit, and living quarters. It is the largest set of the collection with 4,593 pieces.

Minifigures: Included all four Ghostbusters, plus Janine Melnitz, Dana Barrett, Louis Tully, the Library Ghost, Slimer, and two other ghosts.

Ghostbusters Ecto-1 & 2 (75828): Released for the 2016 film reboot, this set included the new Ecto-1 design and an Ecto-2 motorbike.

Minifigures: Featured the new team: Abby Yates, Erin Gilbert, Jillian Holtzmann, Patty Tolan, and Kevin Beckman, plus a Mayhem figure.

Ghostbusters ECTO-1 (10274): A large, highly detailed 18+ model released in November 2020 based on the Ghostbusters: Afterlife movie.

Features: This display model includes working steering, a trapdoor with a ghost trap, an extending rear gunner seat, and a moving ghost sniffer. It does not come with minifigures.

Other Appearances

The Ghostbusters license also appeared in other LEGO forms:

LEGO Dimensions: The "toys-to-life" video game featured a Level Pack, Story Pack, and Fun Packs, adding characters like Peter Venkman, Abby Yates, Slimer, and Stay Puft as playable figures.

LEGO BrickHeadz: A set featuring stylized brick-built figures of Peter Venkman and Slimer was released in 2018.

Collectibility

Most LEGO Ghostbusters sets are retired and no longer available in standard retail stores. They are highly sought after by collectors and can be found on online marketplaces like BrickLink and eBay, where their value is often higher than the original retail price. The larger sets like the Firehouse Headquarters and the 2020 Ecto-1 are popular investment items.
