According to multiple reports, the strike hit a residential building in the Rimal area on Tuesday. Israeli officials said Odeh had only recently taken over the role after his predecessor, Izz al-Din al-Haddad, was killed earlier this month. The airstrike also caused civilian casualties, with local reports indicating several deaths and dozens of injuries.
Israel described Odeh as a senior figure in Hamas’ armed wing and accused him of involvement in planning the October 7 attacks. Hamas has not independently confirmed his appointment or commented in detail on the strike.
This is part of an ongoing escalation in Gaza alongside wider regional tensions, with Israel continuing targeted strikes against Hamas leadership positions.
