According to reports published today, the United States carried out a large, roughly two-hour wave of airstrikes against dozens of Iranian military targets after what U.S. officials described as an attempted Iranian ballistic missile attack on American forces, including troops based in Jordan.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said the strikes targeted facilities linked to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including:

Command-and-control centers

Ballistic missile infrastructure

Drone launch and storage sites

Coastal surveillance and maritime defense facilities

U.S. officials described the operation as a "powerful response" intended to deter further attacks while stating it was directed at military objectives rather than civilian targets.

Iranian media reported explosions at multiple locations, including on Qeshm Island, and said civilian casualties had occurred. Those casualty claims have not been independently verified.

The latest strikes represent another major escalation in the ongoing conflict. Regional governments have raised concerns that the fighting could widen further, particularly after reports of missile interceptions over Jordan and other security incidents elsewhere in the Middle East.
