Ukraine and Russia Trade New Strikes as Zelenskyy Seeks an Energy Truce

Russia and Ukraine exchanged fresh overnight attacks, with Ukrainian officials reporting that Russian missile and drone strikes killed five people in several Ukrainian regions. Russia, meanwhile, said a Ukrainian drone attack killed one person and injured four others in the Samara region, more than 1,000 kilometres from the front line.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was due to meet U.S. President Donald Trump at the United Nations in New York and planned to press for a truce covering energy infrastructure and Black Sea attacks. The diplomacy comes as both sides continue striking energy and logistics targets ahead of winter.
