Ukraine Sends More Than 1,000 Drones Toward Moscow During Russian Vote
2026, September 20Russia / Ukraine
Ukraine launched its largest reported drone assault on Moscow as Russia held the final day of parliamentary elections. Russian authorities said more than 1,000 drones were intercepted nationwide, including hundreds aimed at the capital; two people were killed, dozens were injured, and a Moscow oil refinery was damaged.
The attacks highlighted the widening use of long-range drones against infrastructure far from the front line. Moscow accused Kyiv of trying to disrupt the election, while Ukraine has presented strikes on energy and logistics facilities as part of its effort to increase pressure on Russia’s war effort.
