Ukraine War Enters Another Winter of Economic and Energy Pressure

Ukraine and Russia continue exchanging long-range strikes, with recent attacks hitting oil facilities, industrial sites and transport infrastructure. Russian officials said Ukrainian drone attacks killed people and damaged an oil refinery, while Ukraine has warned that Russia is preparing further pressure on its energy system before winter.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has continued calling for an agreement to protect energy infrastructure and Black Sea shipping. Russian President Vladimir Putin said peace proposals remain available but also threatened further retaliation, indicating that diplomatic contacts have not yet produced a sustained reduction in fighting.
