Floods and Landslides Kill Dozens Across India and Nepal

Heavy rain and storms have triggered floods and landslides that killed 56 people in India and 14 in Nepal. At least 11 people remain missing in Nepal, while 46 people were injured and more than 1,000 homes were damaged in India. Rescue and relief operations are continuing in the worst-affected areas.

Authorities in Nepal warned that flash floods remained possible in 49 of the country’s 77 districts as river levels continued to rise. India’s northern state of Uttar Pradesh recorded rainfall far above the seasonal average between 25 and 27 September, increasing the risk of further flooding and crop losses.
