North Korea Threatens Retaliation Over DMZ Landmine Dispute

North Korea has rejected South Korea's conclusion that Pyongyang was responsible for a September landmine blast in the Demilitarized Zone that seriously injured South Korean soldiers. Pyongyang called Seoul's investigation a "premeditated farce" and warned of "immediate and powerful counteraction" if South Korea violates North Korean territory.

The dispute adds another layer of tension to an already deteriorating relationship. South Korea says its investigation, conducted with the UN Command, found evidence linking the mines to North Korean ordnance and is considering measures to force Pyongyang to apologize. North Korea has continued to refuse dialogue and regards South Korea as a hostile state.
