Saudi–Houthi War Threatens to Spread Across the Gulf

Iran-backed Houthi forces claimed responsibility for another ballistic-missile attack targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, following attacks earlier in the week that killed three people at Saudi airports. Flights were disrupted and evacuations were reported at Riyadh airport, although Saudi authorities had not immediately confirmed the Houthis' latest claim.

The escalation is now extending beyond Yemen's borders and threatening aviation, shipping and energy infrastructure across the Gulf. Saudi Arabia is seeking additional defensive and logistical support from allies, while Turkey and Pakistan have already discussed or provided assistance; Syria is also considering military support. More than 200,000 people have reportedly been displaced by the renewed fighting in Yemen.
